TIME & TIDE CLOCKS
We all have personal experience with a time clock. But, for best beachcombing, boat launching, fishing, or quiet walking along the shoreline,
one should consult a tide clock. Tide clocks are specially geared to keep pace with the tides. Most coastal areas have four tides per day, two low & two high with about a 15 minute slack time between each tide change. This makes the "tidal" day approximately 25 hours, not our 24 hour time day. These tide clocks have a specialized quartz mechanism that uses a AA battery & cycles on this tidal or lunar day. If your coastal area has more or less than four tides/day these clocks will not keep efficient "tidal time". Setting instructions are included with each tide clock, but essentially one consults a published tide chart for your area, & when it is time for the high tide, you move the clock hand to HIGH, insert the AA battery, & you are good to go...to the beach, to the boat, to the launch ramp.
